This is a comprehensive guide to campus resources and services available to students during Reed's summer academic break from May 20 to August 24.
During the summer break, Reed is open during normal business hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Fridays from June 20 to August 22, most Reed offices close at 12 p.m. The college is also closed on May 26 in observance of Memorial Day, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth, and July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Campus Departments & Services
Academic Support
Academic Support staff are available to students by appointment. Students should email Amaan Mohiuddin (mohiuddin@reed.edu) to inquire about availability. Tutoring services are not available during the summer. Tutoring will resume on the first day of classes, September 2.
Athletics, Fitness & Outdoor Programs
Reed Sports Center hours: The Sports Center will be open Monday through Friday from 7am to 7pm and will remain closed on weekends throughout the summer.
Summer hours will begin on May 20 and continue through August 25, 2025. Half-day Fridays will start on June 20, with adjusted building hours of 7am-2pm on Fridays.
Reed swimming pool hours: The Reed swimming pool will be open Monday through Friday from 11am to 2pm and 4pm to 6:30pm until May 20. After that date, Friday hours will change to 11am to 2pm only.

Reed Bookstore
The Reed College Bookstore is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on days the college is open. Visit the Bookstore for more information.
Business Office
The business office is open during regular business hours on days the college is open. Throughout the summer, the cashier’s window is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed for lunch noon to 1 p.m.). Fridays (June 20 - August 22) the office closes at noon and the cashier window hours are (9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.).
Staff are available anytime during normal business hours to assist students with the following resources:

Center for Life Beyond Reed (CLBR)
CLBR continues to be available throughout the summer. We encourage you to schedule an appointment with our staff, who will still be available during regular business hours. Additionally:

Community Safety
Community safety is open 24 hours a day, including weekends and days the college is closed. CSOs are available to assist with safety and security issues, including medical emergencies and lockouts. Call 503-517-5355, text 503-849-8678, or walk in to 28 West for assistance.
Computer User Services/IT
Help desk and hardware services are available to students. Contact us at cus@reed.edu, by phone at 503-777-7525, or via chat at reed.edu/help. Visit the Help Desk for specific holiday closures.
Disability & Accessibility Resources
Disability & Accessibility Resources staff are available by appointment. Students can book a phone, video, or in-person appointment using DAR’s online booking page. Students can reach DAR staff for general questions at dar@reed.edu or 503-517-4917.
Facilities
Maintenance staff are available and on-call for on-campus facilities issues.
For non-urgent maintenance issues, fill out an online maintenance request.
For urgent maintenance issues (e.g. broken pipe, leaks, etc.), call Facilities (503-777-7283) during business hours or Community Safety (503-517-5355) after hours and on weekends.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid staff are available for questions and advising via phone, email, and virtual and in-person appointments Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except for campus holidays. Visit Financial Aid for contact information.
Gray Campus Center (GCC)
The Gray Campus Center (GCC) summer hours are Monday - Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. with a Reed ID card. Open hours (no swipe needed) are Monday - Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Health & Counseling Center
The Health & Counseling Center (HCC) is closed for all appointments and clinical services in the summer, including prescription refills.
Administrative staff remain available during the entirety of summer break (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except for holidays) for medical record requests and to answer questions. Students who receive psychiatric and GAHT medication are strongly encouraged to meet with their HCC providers before summer closure to arrange a summer medication plan.
The Reed College Counseling Hotline (866-432-1224) and nurse advice line (800-214-4469) are available to students on a 24/7 basis.

International Student Services
ISS staff are available to students for in-person, phone and virtual appointments. Virtual drop-in hours will be available most Wednesdays. Students can find virtual drop-in hours, reach staff or make an appointment via the ISS Contact page.
Most ISS programs and events will pause for the summer. Special event or program announcements may be shared intermittently to the international student email group.
Library

Mail Services
The mail room is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays. The Mail Room is closed on campus holidays.
Multicultural Resource Center
The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) will be open during normal business hours when the college is open. Jessika Chi is available for in-person, phone, and virtual appointments. Please email chij@reed.edu to make an appointment or stop by the Student Center.
Registrar's Office

Residence Life
Residence Life is available via phone, email, and virtual and in-person appointments during normal business hours on days that the college is open. Visit Residence Life for contact information.

SHARE (Sexual Health, Advocacy, & Relationship Education)
Program Director and Confidential Advocate, L. Mattson is available during normal business hours for survivor support services. Students can request a meeting by emailing mattsonl@reed.edu or filling out the Advocacy Contact Form. Response can be expected within 72 hours.

Online order for free, safer sex supplies is available all summer through our program, SHARE Package; orders will be delivered via on campus mail stop and off-campus U.S. address.
SEEDS (Students for Education, Equity, and Direct Service)
SEEDS will be open during normal business hours. Most SEEDS programs and events will pause for the summer, with the exception of the Reed Community Pantry. The SEEDS program director, Shishei Tsang, is available for in-person, phone, or virtual appointments. Please email tsangs@reed.edu to make an appointment.
Student Engagement
Student Engagement staff are available via phone, email, and for virtual and in-person appointments during business hours on the days that the college is open. Visit Student Engagement for contact information and to make an appointment.
Student Life Office
Student Life deans are available to students for academic, campus life, and other resource guidance via in-person, phone, or video appointments. Email Student Life or call 503-517-7396 if you have questions or need immediate assistance during business hours.

Commons & The Marketplace
Commons will remain open with limited hours during the summer. Hours, menus, and services are regularly updated on the Bon Appetit website.

Marketplace hours
The Marketplace is closed for the summer. A limited amount of retail items are available for purchase in Commons Cafe throughout the summer.
Reed Community Pantry
The Reed Community Pantry (RCP) provides food items, toiletries, hygiene products, books, and more at no cost to members of the Reed community. All community members have access to the pantry and can take what they need, no questions asked. Hours and services are posted on the RCP website.

The Reed College Guide to Multicultural Portland
The Reed College Guide to Multicultural Portland is designed to provide Reedies with a starting point for exploring Portland. The guide includes information about local restaurants, spiritual and faith centers, community and cultural organizations, salons and barbershops, and arts and attractions.

Community Safety: Community Safety is open 24 hours a day, including weekends, holidays, and days the college is closed. Mental health support: The Health & Counseling Center (HCC) is closed for all appointments and clinical services in the summer, however the following mental health resources are available: Students can talk with a free and confidential counselor 24 hours a day by calling the Reed Counseling Hotline at 866-432-1224. Students can access free teletherapy through Uwill (up to twelve 30-minute teletherapy sessions per calendar year). Students can follow the HCC's recommendations for finding counseling providers and navigating health insurance in their local communities. Students can access the HCC's directory of community mental health providers (Reed login required). See Mental Health Care Resources for additional emergency, hospital, and counseling line resources.
Medical assistance: Students can call the Nurse Advice Line at 800-214-4469 to consult with a registered nurse. See Urgent Care & Hospitals for local urgent clinics and hospitals.
The Reed Care Team: The Care Team proactively coordinates resources and support for students experiencing personal hardships, such as housing insecurity, interpersonal conflicts and family emergencies. Anyone can refer a student to the Care Team via the online care referral form. Referrals are reviewed during normal business hours and are not monitored after hours, on weekends, or days the college is closed. Sexual violence, relationship abuse, and stalking support:

Emergency housing: Students experiencing unsafe or inhabitable living conditions (whether on- or off-campus) can call Community Safety (503-517-5355) to request use of a temporary on-campus emergency room. Two on-campus emergency rooms are available to currently enrolled students for short-term use (typically no more than 72 hours). Staff can assist students in making a plan for longer-term housing if needed.
Emergency financial assistance: The Reed Emergency Fund is a limited resource available for currently enrolled Reed students who have short-term or one-time needs that are deemed immediately vital to the personal health or the academic well-being of the student. Priority is given to students with financial need who have exhausted all forms of financial aid. Visit Emergency Funding for more information and to submit a request.

Cascadia Urgent Behavioral Health Walk-In Clinic: Mental health emergencies and crisis support, including emergency medication refills. Open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. No medical services on Sundays as of March 2021. 4212 SE Division Street, Suite 100, Portland.
Cedar Hills Hospital: Short term inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment; outpatient services include day treatment and intensive outpatient care. Call 503-844-5000 to set up an intake appointment or present in person. Available 24 hours a day. 10300 SW Eastridge St, Portland.
Unity Hospital: Multnomah’s public mental health hospital offering emergency psychiatric care and short-term inpatient mental health services 24 hours per day. Open to all insurances and uninsured patients. 1225 NE 2nd Ave, Portland, OR 97232. 503-944-8009
Providence Portland: a local hospital with psychiatric inpatient and emergency services available 24 hours a day. Accepts most insurances - patients can call in advance to check if their insurance is accepted. 4805 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97213
Multnomah County Mental Health Crisis: Mental health crisis support and access to Project Respond, a mobile crisis counselor program to help facilitate access to psychiatric inpatient hospital care. Call 503-988-4888 for consultation. Available 24 hours a day.
Crisis and mental health support lines
Reed Counseling Hotline: Students can talk with a free and confidential licensed counselor by calling 866-432-1224. Available 24 hours a day.
Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 to connect to a trained crisis counselor. Available 24 hours a day.
Oregon Warmline: 1-800-698-2392. A counseling hotline offering non-judgmental and confidential peer support.
Call to Safety: Connect to a local (Portland and surrounding areas) confidential advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Call their 24/7 crisis hotline at 1-888-253-5333 or their local line during business hours at 503-235-5333. Offers in-person medical advocacy, follow-up support, and connection to additional resources.
RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network): National crisis line for sexual assault, relationship abuse, and stalking survivors. Call 800-656-4673 or go to rainn.org; live chat at hotline.rainn.org.
988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for students and loved ones. Call 988 or use the chat feature on their website. Available 24 hours a day.
BlackLine: 1-800-604-5841. BlackLine provides a space for peer support, counseling, witnessing and affirming the lived experiences to folxs who are most impacted by systematic oppression with an LGBTQ+ Black Femme lens. Call BlackLine prioritizes BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color).
The Trevor Project LGBTQ Suicide Hotline: A crisis intervention and suicide prevention hotline for LBGTQ+ youth and young adults. Call 866-488-7386 (available 24 hours a day) or text START to 678678 (available 7 days a week from noon to 7 p.m. PST).
Trans Lifeline: Trans Lifeline is a trans-led organization that connects trans people to the community, support, and resources. Call 877-565-8860 between 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. PST / 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. CST / 10 a.m. - 4 a.m. EST; volunteers may be available outside of these hours.
Lines for Life: Lines for Life is a regional nonprofit dedicated to preventing substance abuse and suicide. Call 800-273-8255 or text 273TALK to 8398631. Available 24 hours a day.
Psychedelic Peer Support Line: The Psychedelic Support Line offers free emotional support via one-off, inbound, unscheduled conversations by phone and text between anonymous volunteers and callers who are in the midst of psychedelic experiences or integrating past ones.

Prism Health Center: Health care for the LBGTQ+ individuals.
NUNM Health Centers: Primary care and natural healthcare, including acupuncture and chiropractic care. Low cost care available if uninsured. Healthcare for transgender individuals available.
