Program Director for International Student Services
Hello and welcome! My name is Dana Lawson and I serve as the primary staff contact for international students within the college's Student Life division.
In my role I oversee the different programs in the office; work on immigration-related matters; liaise with other campus departments, faculty, and staff on issues relating to international students; and supervise office staff. If you are a prospective student and decide to attend Reed, we will get to know each other very well.
I grew up in the Portland area but went south to San Antonio, Texas, for college and graduate school. I earned a bachelor's degree in art history from Trinity University and a master's degree in higher education administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I love working with international students and enjoy learning something new about each of you each day. In my free time I enjoy traveling, going out to the movies, reading, listening to podcasts, trying out new Portland restaurants, and hanging out with my family and friends. If you have any questions about the ISS office or international students at Reed, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Area Coordinator and International Student Advisor
Hey there! My name is Tyler Casey and I am an Area Coordinator and International Student Adviser here at Reed College. I assist Dana with immigration-related matters, event planning for the department and I also have the privilege of supervising our International Student Advisory Board.
I was born and raised in northern New Jersey and relocated to sunny South Florida for high school and college. I have a Bachelor of Science in Event Management and a Masters in Business Administration with an emphasis on Marketing from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. I began my professional career in res life at Lynn as well, where I served as an Area Coordinator for two years running their predominately freshmen halls. Whenever I find the time to do so I love to go to estate sales/antique stores, fishing, and hiking. I also have a major passion for cooking so if you have any yummy recipes don't hesitate to share them with me so I can test them out. Feel free to wave if you see me walking through campus and know that I am always happy to meet and support you throughout the year!
Hello! I am Ana Quintana Bernal. I was born in Mexico City and moved to Tucson, Arizona when I was seven. I am an Environmental Studies-Biology major and French minor. I am very interested in educating youth about the environment and ways to make our Earth last a little longer. I love learning new languages, singing (in the various languages I learn), and watching Pixar movies. If you see me around campus or at the ISS office, please feel free to stop and say hi! You can also catch me riding my bike around Portland or obsessing over my many new plants.
Intern - ISAB Program Coordinator
Hey everyone! My name is David Gehlke, I’m a rising sophomore and I intend to major in ICPS (International Comparative Policy Studies, for those of you not yet familiar with all of the Reed lingo) with a focus on international relations. I’m originally from California but moved to France when I was ten and went to boarding school in England for five years. I’m interested in literature and movies, I enjoy spending time outdoors when the weather permits, playing squash, and cooking (but mostly for the eating that comes afterwards). I’m looking forward to meeting you all and hope that you’ll enjoy the international student orientation as much as I did!
Hello! I’m Annika, a sophomore chemistry major from Japan. I like watching baseball and eating good food with friends. I’m also a big fan of the free tea in the ISS office and our monthly Fondue Fridays. As an ISS intern, I look forward to helping plan events that make your time at Reed a lively and entertaining experience!
Hi, I'm Shulav from Nepal and I'm a junior who will probably major in math-econ. I am also very interested in films and soccer and am trying to continue following them while at Reed. When I'm not studying or working, I can be found watching movies or playing the bass guitar. Last year, I had a lot of fun with Discover PDX trips, so I am very excited to plan those out as an ISS intern.
