Life insurance


Employees in a position of at least half time are eligible on the first day of the month following date of hire or transfer into an eligible position.  Employees are able to purchase supplemental life and accidental death and dismemberment plans for their spouse, domestic partner, and dependent children.


Reed provides group term life insurance in an amount of two times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $300,000.  The plan also provides accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage.  Employee supplemental elections can be made in $10,000 increments up to $500,000. Supplemental elections for an employee's spouse can be made in $5,000 increments up to $500,000, and dependent elections can be made in $2,000 increments up to $10,000. 

There are many life insurance options on the market but this group plan allows employees to select coverage up to $100,000 without having to disclose any medical history. However, employees are encouraged to shop for individual life insurance plans in order to find one that best suits their needs. 


Group term life and AD&D insurance is paid by Reed.  Optional supplemental life and AD&D coverage is paid for by the employee and rates vary based on age and the amount of coverage.
