Use fentanyl test strips to check your substances for fentanyl contamination and help prevent overdose!

What is Fentanyl?

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that can be dangerous because it is very potent (50 times more potent than heroin), so you can end up accidentally taking a much stronger substance than you planned. This can lead to accidental overdose and death.

Why Test Your Drugs?

Any substances that you did not get directly from a pharmacy have no guarantee of their contents, and can be cut with fentanyl without you knowing. This includes cocaine, MDMA, heroin, amphetamines, and counterfeit pills (Xanax, Adderall, etc.). Testing for fentanyl is a simple and fast preventative measure that can considerably decrease risk of an opioid overdose. However, fentanyl test strips are not 100% accurate so please make sure you take other precautions if you still choose to use. Go slow, avoid using alone, test, and have naloxone available.

Where to get Fentanyl Test Strips on Campus?

Free fentanyl test strips are available in the HCC lobby during all business hours. You can also access fentanyl test strips along with other services during dedicated harm reduction hours every Wednesday and Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the HCC.
