Artistic Faculty 2026

The members of our artistic faculty, most of whom are joining us from Buenos Aires, rank among the world’s greatest tango players, composers, and bandleaders. They are also passionate teachers and experienced educators, dedicated to transmitting their knowledge of tango to students of any background and level of experience. They include:

Paulina Fain

Artistic Director / Winds

Paulina Fain is one of the most prominent tango pedagogues in the world. She is the editor of the Método de Tango book collection and author of The Flute in Tango. She has presented concerts and masterclasses throughout the world and has toured widely with the Fain-Mantega Duo, a group that explores the limits of the genre.

Charles Gorczynski

Bandoneon / Community Orchestra

Minneapolis-based composer and bandoneonist Charles Gorczynski works in contemporary tango, new music, and studio production. He leads the Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet and Redwood Tango Ensemble and is the director of the Twin Cities Tango Collective. As a community organizer and music teacher, he believes in inclusive and supportive structures that can inspire people to make art at any level.

Sebastián Henríquez

Guitar / Parilla in Tango

Sebastián Henríquez is the author of the book The Guitar in Tango. He was awarded a Latin Grammy in 2023 as album producer and has performed alongside the most important traditional music singers and writers in the Argentinian music scene. His experience as an educator has led him to become a faculty member at some of the most important music institutions in Buenos Aires.

Morgan Luker

Director / Tango History

Morgan Luker is associate professor of music at Reed College. An ethnomusicologist, he holds a PhD from Columbia University. His research focuses on contemporary tango music in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is the author of The Tango Machine (University of Chicago Press, 2017), and his work on these topics has appeared in numerous academic journals, as well. He has presented his work at conferences throughout the United States, Latin America, and Europe. At Reed, Morgan teaches on a wide variety of topics in world music and culture.

Exequiel Mantega

Piano / Arrangers & Composers

A prolific composer, conductor, and arranger, pianist Exequiel Mantega has published more than 100 works. Between 2017 and 2019 he premiered more than 50 symphonic arrangements of Argentine music for the Orquesta Sin Fin, which he also conducts. Alongside Paulina Fain, he is co-founder of the Buenos Aires-based nonprofit arts organization Tango Sin Fin.

Sebastián Noya

Bass

Seba Noya is a double bassist, arranger, and composer based in Bern (CH). After playing, recording, and touring internationally with an assorted range of artists from the contemporary Tango scene in Buenos Aires (Julio Pane, Diego Schissi and Lidia Borda), he now performs with some of the most established tango musicians of the European scene (Orquesta Silencio, Leonardo Ferreyra Septeto). An enthusiastic explorer of the boundaries of tango, he is currently active with ensembles No Tags and Arta Balarta.

Pedro Rossi

Vocals / Argentine Folk Music

Pedro Rossi is a singer, guitarist, and educator. Author of the method La Guitarra en el Folklore, he has toured internationally and collaborated on acclaimed projects. His deep musical insight and creative approach make his workshops an inspiring space for singers and musicians.

Guillermo Rubino

Strings / Tango Styles

Since 2009, Guillermo Rubino has been the first violin and string instruments instructor with the Orquesta Escuela Emilio Balcarce. He is a founding member of the Diego Schissi Quinteto, with whom he has recorded five albums. In 2017 he founded SurdelSur Ensamble, an instrumental group dedicated to performing original pieces by contemporary Argentine composers.
