Adding and removing devices from Duo

Here is a video tutorial that will show you the steps:

How to enroll a replacement phone in Duo

Follow the steps below to activate a replacement phone in Duo. This assumes you had a different phone (with the same phone number) previously enrolled in Duo.
  1. Download the Duo Mobile app to your new phone.
  2. On a separate device, sign into a service like IRIS that requires two-step authentication (use a private/incognito session if doing this on a device that is remembered for 30 days).Settings.png
  3. Before two-stepping, click Settings in the top right > My Settings & Devices.

  4. When prompted, authenticate with a phone call or SMS passcode.Screen-Shot-2020-04-24-at-12.15.41-PM.png
  5. Click the gear icon next to the phone and choose "Reactivate Duo Mobile".

  6. Select the type of device. Choose "I have Duo Mobile".
  7. Open the Duo app on your phone and scan the barcode. (Click the + sign on the upright corner)

How to enroll an additional device in Duo

This assumes you have another two-step device (phone, tablet, or token) already enrolled in Duo.

  1. Sign into a service like IRIS that requires two-step authentication (use a private/incognito session if doing this on a device that is remembered for 30 days).
  2. Before two-stepping, click Settings in the top right > Add a new device.Settings.pngScreen-Shot-2020-04-24-at-12.19.21-PM.png
  3. When prompted, authenticate using your preferred two-step method.
  4. Follow the prompts to add a new device.
  5. We recommend leaving the default When I log in option to "Ask me to choose an authentication method".

How to remove a device from Duo

 Follow the steps below to remove an existing device from Duo.

  1. Sign into a service like IRIS that requires two-step authentication (use a private/incognito session if doing this on a device that is remembered for 30 days).
  2. Before two-stepping, click Settings in the top right > My Settings & Devices.

  3. When prompted, authenticate using your preferred two-step method.
  4. Click the Gear icon next to the device you want to remove > Delete Device.

  5. Confirm you want to delete the device.
