Writing Letters of Recommendation

Faculty and staff mentors can have a significant impact on students’ fellowship or job application experiences.

Faculty advisers and staff mentors who know students well are positioned to offer effective advice based on students' demonstrated interests and abilities. They can also support students through writing letters of recommendation.

Use the resources below to assist you when working on a letter of recommendation for a student or alumnus/a. The Fellowships and Awards Committee members are happy to provide feedback on draft letters of recommendation. Please contact fellowships adviser Michelle Johnson or Fellowships and Awards Committee chair Ken Brashier for more information.
