Alumni and Visitors

Alumni

Alumni are welcome to use the computers in the IRCs and Library. Remember it is a privilege and not a right. CUS staff cannot provide assistance to alumni on such things as how to use applications or use the computers. Also, printing services are not available to alumni.

While on campus, alumni have access to library resources. However, access via a proxy server is not available. Alumni who are outside the Portland area can contact one of Reed's librarians. They are happy to help locate libraries in the area who can provide guest access to the needed resources.

To obtain an alumni account, come by the help desk during business hours and ask for a temporary alumni account. These accounts last 180 days. To sign up for an account you must show your alumni association ID card and a photo id.

During especially busy times (finals, before thesis deadlines, beginning of the year) when the computer labs are crowded, alumni are required to yield to current students. During these times, CUS staff will be unable to open new alumni accounts or renew existing alumni accounts.

Remember, these resources are here for current students and faculty. CUS and T-watchers are here to help current members of the Reed community. We may be unable to offer assistance to alumni during busy times.

Parents and Guests

There are two email-checking computers at the entrance to the ETC building with email and internet access. Guests are strongly suggested to use those. CUS or the T-watcher on duty may be able to login official guests into a limited IRC account if there are open terminals and we are not busy.
