New Students

Academic Planning

Welcome to Reed College academics!

As an incoming student, you will register for your 2021-22 courses over the summer with the help of a faculty member who will serve as your summer registration adviser, and you will also be assigned an academic adviser who will meet with you during Orientation week.

The Advising & Registration page has more detailed information on academic advising for incoming students.

Transfer students should also review the Advising & Registration page, and can find additional information specific to transfers here.

The placement exams page is where you’ll find information about options to test out of certain levels of courses in some areas. More detail and a list of available placement tests can be found on this page.

The Reed College Bookstore

The bookstore is a nonprofit, institutionally-owned shop that supports the educational mission of the college. All of your textbooks and school supplies can be purchased at the bookstore, which also provides textbook reservations, textbook buyback, textbook rentals, bookstore accounts, special orders, and a textbook scholarship program.
