Welcome New Students arriving in January 2026!
Orientation is an exciting time for you to explore Reed's academic program, resources, and co-curricular opportunities, as well as to meet your peers and get to know campus.
The Orientation team, part of the college's Student Life Division, is here to support your successful transition to Reed. Please contact us with any questions.
Please browse the links on the left to start learning about ways to prepare for your arrival.
Reed 101: Online Orientation (Complete before January 22)
By mid-December, you will receive an email with the links to the three online Orientation modules, which include important information about academic requirements, registration, student support services, and campus life.
Completion of the online Orientation modules before January 22 is required for all new students.
Campus Culture & Prevention Trainings (Complete before January 22)
In mid-December, you will receive an email with links to three Campus Culture & Prevention Trainings. These modules were designed to increase one’s ability to identify and challenge harmful and discriminatory behaviors. They are intended to build critical self-awareness skills, drive systemic cultural analysis, and increase the capacity of our community to intervene in potentially harmful scenarios. These skills are critical to establishing a solid foundation of trust, mutual respect, and care that our academic community can thrive in.
Completion of the online modules before January 22 is required for all new students. For more information on the modules check out this website.
In-Person General Orientation
During Spring Orientation on campus (January 22 - 23), you will meet faculty, fellow students, and staff through a series of presentations, information sessions, and programs.
Check out the Orientation schedule.
Check-In and Move-In
If you will be living on campus, you may move into your residence on Wednesday, January 21.
If you arrive before that date, you will pick up your ID card and room key at 28 West (5436 SE 28th Avenue). You will receive a welcome bag on the first day of Orientation on January 22.
Please note that during the holiday weekend, January 17 - 19, there will be very limited food and staff services on campus. If you arrive during the holiday weekend or on January 20, here are food options around Reed, holiday hours for some main offices, and a Winter Break Guide Student.
We encourage new students (transfers, international, and foreign exchange students) to move in on Wednesday, January 21, between 8:30 AM and 5 PM. On this day, the Orientation Program Coordinator will be at 28 West (5436 SE 28th Avenue) to help check in new students. At check-in, you will receive your student ID and room key (if applicable).
Please indicate when you plan to arrive at Reed on this Google form by December 18.
