Class news

  • [4/20]  Updated class notes are available from the class notes page.
  • [4/2]  Menu-cost diagrams from Monday's class are posted.
  • [3/11]  Notes are now posted on money and on the traditional IS/LM model.
  • [3/2]  A coded grade file and my class notes for real business cycles are now posted.
  • [2/20]  I have posted my class notes for the endogenous-growth models and for the empirical growth analysis. The notes now posted cover all of the topics on the midterm exam.
  • [2/20]  Exam logistics:
    • In-class midterm will be Friday, 2/22. You may start as early as 8:40. It is closed-book, but you may bring one, one-sided, 8.5x11" page with whatever notes, equations, or graphs you want as reminders.
    • Take-home exam will be distributed on Friday 2/22 and due back at the beginning of class on Wednesday, 2/27. You may use your textbook and notes on the take-home exam, but you may not communicate with anyone except the instructor about the questions.

  • [2/12]  Project #3 is due on February 20.
  • [2/11]  Instructor notes for the Ramsey model are now available.
  • [2/8]  Instructor notes on the Solow model are now posted as a pdf.

  • [2/1]  I have just posted a Guide to Reading Econometric Papers for students with no or little econometrics background. You may find this helpful on some of the papers of the week and the readings as we proceed.
  • [2/1]  Daily readings for Ramsey and Diamond growth models:
    • 2/4-2/7: Romer 2.1, 2.2, and 8.1, Coursebook 3-1 to 3-22.
    • 2/8: Romer 2.3, Coursebook 3-22 to 3-28
    • 2/11: Romer 2.4-2.6
    • 2/13: Rest of Romer Chapter 2 plus 13.1-13.3, rest of Coursebook Ch. 3. 
  • [1/31] Project #1 is now posted. It is due in class on Wednesday, February 6.
