Communications and Reminders from Reed

Disability and Accessibility Resources, Summer Ambassadors, and Sustainability

Dear student,

I’m reaching out to introduce you to some important resources at Reed, including Disability & Accessibility Resources, our Summer Ambassadors program, and Sustainability.

Disability & Accessibility Resources (DAR)

DAR works with students who have a range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, learning disabilities, chronic medical conditions, and hearing or visual impairments. If you have a medical or mental health condition and would like to request disability accommodations at Reed, visit the DAR new students page for more information.

July 1 is the recommended deadline for submitting academic accommodation requests. If you have any questions about the accommodation process, please email dar@reed.edu or schedule a general information meeting with DAR this summer.

Summer Ambassadors Program

The Reed Summer Ambassadors Program pairs new Reedies like you with current students who are eager to answer questions and share about their own experiences—from dining hall tips to Reed lore.

Be on the lookout for an email from your Summer Ambassador next week with more details about how to connect! We also encourage you to follow us on Instagram @reedadmission to see the Summer Ambassadors in action!

Sustainability

Here at Reed, we work (and play) hard to integrate sustainability into everything we do. Accounting for the college’s overall resource consumption and carbon footprint is our responsibility as engaged citizens in an ever-changing world, so across campus you’ll find a multitude of sustainability initiatives launched by students, for students.

  • Check out the Swap Shop pop-up event in the Student Union on Monday, August 24, during move-in. We’ll have all sorts of FREE, gently used items for your room, including mirrors, decorations, storage solutions, and maybe even some mini-fridges.

  • Explore the garden on campus! Two student garden stewards will tend it this summer and it’s a beautiful way to connect to your new community. The garden is located at the Garden House on Southeast 28th.

  • Follow @sustainablereed on Instagram to learn about our student-led programs and events.

I hope these resources are helpful as you get ready for Reed!

Sincerely,

Huy Trinh
Director of Admission
