Greetings, new Reed parents and families.
On behalf of the Reed College Orientation team, welcome to the Reed community. We're excited to meet you!
We write today with information about New Student Orientation, move-in, and Parent & Family Orientation.
New Student Orientation will take place August 24–30. New student move-in is scheduled for Monday, August 24.
The housing portal is open and housing applications are due by June 1. More information on housing can be found on our website.
Parent & Family Orientation
Parent & Family Orientation events are scheduled in coordination with the start of New Student Orientation.
All events for parents, family members, and guests will take place on Tuesday, August 25, and are listed below. Registration is required. All events will be held in person and will be recorded for those who are unable to attend. Recorded sessions will be available online the week of August 31.
Parent & Family Orientation Schedule
MONDAY, AUGUST 24
New Reedie Move-in
TUESDAY, AUGUST 25
9 a.m. | Supporting Your Student's Holistic Development
Meet staff members from Reed's Student Life Division and learn about the resources and services available to students.
10:30 a.m. | Convocation
Attend the formal welcoming of students from every corner of the world and the parents and families who will support them from afar during their time at Reed.
The 2030 class photo and Reed generations photo will be taken immediately following the Convocation ceremony.
1 p.m. | The Reed Classroom
Learn more about how Reed faculty structure their classes to foster an education of the richest sort and what it means to be a faculty scholar dedicated to teaching.
2–4 p.m. | Department Open Houses
4 p.m. | Lifelong Support for Your Student Through Alumni Connections
Bring your students for a relaxed coffee-and-cookie gathering with Reed's Alumni Relations & Parent Engagement office and learn how the college cultivates a close-knit, global alumni community.
5 p.m. | President's Reception for Parents & Guardians
Closing reception for Parent & Family Orientation. Take this opportunity to mingle with President Audrey Bilger and other members of the faculty and staff. This reception is not for students (who should be eating dinner before their next session begins). This reception is for parents and families only.
Registration
Registration is required to attend Parent & Family Orientation events. Please submit your RSVP by Friday, August 21.
Books
We encourage your student to preorder books and supplies from the Reed bookstore. To receive a discount, Hum 110 preorders should be placed no later than Sunday, August 2. Preordered books and supplies will be available for pick up by Monday, August 24.
