Communications and Reminders from Reed

International Student Visa Information

Hello International Student,

Congratulations on confirming your enrollment to Reed College! We’re so excited to welcome you this fall.

You will receive a variety of communications throughout the summer regarding next steps, forms to complete, and information to provide. Be sure to check your email inbox regularly, as many of these next steps will have deadlines.

Many of you have reached out inquiring about receiving your I-20s. In order for us to do this, we will need you to submit the following documents:

  1. International Student Certification of Finances forms and supporting documentation
  2. A copy of the biographical page of your passport so that we can issue your travel documents correctly. Contact iss@reed.edu if you need to receive the I-20 in order to apply for your passport.

You can read more about these forms on the International Student Services (ISS) website. You can upload these documents to this secure portal.

These documents are required for all international students, whether you will receive financial aid or not. Failure to submit the Certification of Finances on time could result in delays in receiving your visa documents.

Once ready, ISS will plan to send an electronic version of the I-20 to you by email so that you can begin the visa application process. The electronic I-20 should be printed out, read thoroughly, and carried with you to the visa interview and when traveling to the U.S.

Please direct any questions about the Certification of Finances to the Office of International Student Services at iss@reed.edu.

Take care,

Gwen Sandford
Director of International Student Services

Associate Dean of Admission

P.S. We can’t wait to welcome you to campus this year! International Student Orientation takes place in person August 22–26. International students are also required to attend General Orientation, which begins on August 26.
