Beckman Scholar Program (Fellowship)

Sponsored by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, this program supports student-faculty research in biochemical engineering and related STEM fields. Two Scholars will be selected annually through 2027.

Eligibility: Sophomores interested in biochemical engineering or STEM who plan to pursue advanced degrees (PhD, MD, VMD) or careers in biotech.

Program Details: Scholars commit to ~18 months of mentored, independent research and leadership development. Scholars receive a total of $18,200, which includes a stipend and funds for research travel and supplies. Faculty mentors can access up to $5000 to cover professional travel, publication charges, and supplies related to the Scholar’s project.

Symposium: After their second summer, Scholars will be invited to present their research at the annual Beckman Symposium, with travel and lodging funded by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation.
