Welcome!

Whether your student is new or returning to Reed, we are delighted to welcome your family to this extraordinary community. As a parent, you already have a direct link to the most exciting and interesting source of information about the college—your son or daughter. By “parents and families” we mean moms, dads, guardians, stepparents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles... anyone who loves and cares for a Reedie. Please find a variety of programs and services on the menu bar on the left-hand side of this page, including answers to frequently asked questions and helpful links to enhance your navigation of our campus and its resources.

New dorms open

Residence Life is pleased to announce the fall opening of four new residence halls: Bidwell House, Sitka House, Aspen House, and Sequoia House on the north side of campus at the edge of the Reed canyon. events

Reed keeps parents in the loop as much as possible, beginning with a parent orientation program each August and Parent & Family Weekend on campus in November. Additionally, there are receptions with parents and alumni in rotating cities throughout the academic year.

keeping in touch

All parents receive the quarterly Reed magazine and ReediEnews, our electronic newsletter. Please provide us with your email addresses so that we may keep you up to date on Reed news and upcoming events. Also, let us know if you have a preferred first name, and we will make a note of it. Send this information and other inquiries to parents@reed.edu. Helpful online publications include the parent handbook and list of administrative contacts.

getting involved

The Parent Council is comprised of approximately 40 parents of Reed students and parents of young alumni. Council members represent the Reed parent community and set a leadership example through philanthropic support and advocacy of Reed’s mission.
