When is a good time to visit Reed?
Orientation, which takes place in late August, is an exceptional time for parents of new students to get acquainted with the Reed community. Separate and shared experiences for parents and students help make the transition to college life more comfortable. All parents and family members are invited to visit Reed during Parent and Family Weekend in early November. During this weekend you can attend classes and participate in events on campus that will provide you with insights into your student's daily life.
How can I arrange for a campus tour?
The admission office will be happy to help you schedule a tour. You may call the office Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except for major holidays, at 800/547-4750 (or 503/777-7511). You can also schedule a campus tour online. Current Reed students lead tours of the campus twice daily. Information sessions led by admission counselors are available one hour before the tours.
What if we can't visit Reed?
You can do the next best thing-take an online tour. If your student would like an admission interview, staff members offer interviews in all major cities to which they travel in the fall and early winter. Also, the admission office can arrange for an interview or phone consultation with a Reed alumnus or alumna in your home area.
