Reed Welcomes New Executive Director of Development

Sarah Panetta will head development team.

July 17, 2018

A hearty welcome to our new executive director of development, Sarah Panetta, who comes to Reed from Portland’s Children’s Healing Arts Project where she served as executive director. Sarah has also run a nonprofit consulting practice to support local and national nonprofits and served as vice president of development at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Her experience includes senior fundraising roles at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and at the Harvard Business School in Cambridge, MA.

Sarah's familiarity with Reed reaches back to her first campus visit in 1990 when she visited her brother, Jim Zanzot ’94, during his fall break. She says she was surprised at how natural it felt to be back on campus during her recent interview process. She notes, "As I've started connecting with a broader range of Reedies while settling in to my new role, I've recognized some of the traits that drew my younger brother all the way here from the East Coast so long ago: a commitment to intellectual rigor; demonstrated passion for engaging discourse; a desire to influence the world; and, the opportunity to test new and creative paths. We're looking forward to being together on campus again during the Class of '94's 25th reunion in June 2019."

Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a master’s degree in organizational management from Concordia University in St. Paul, MN.
