School for Field Studies - Bhutan
Multiple Locations, Bhutan
SFS offers study abroad programs in Bhutan, a mountain kingdom where change is afoot. Few foreigners have ever seen Bhutan's small villages and stunning Buddhist monasteries - it wasn't until 1974 that the country opened its borders to tourists. Based in Paro, students will learn how biodiversity is protected and traditional rural lifestyles are maintained. Participants experience conservation and environmental issues against the backdrop of vibrant culture and Buddhist philosophy, gain an in-depth understanding of local ecosystems, and wrap up the semester with an extensive field trip.
