Ending employment
For employees, to prepare for ending Reed employment
Before you leave:
- Unless your last day is a regular payday, your final check will be a paper check. Contact the business office if you have any questions about your final paycheck.
- Ensure that you turn in all Reed property, including keys, computer equipment and your Reed ID card
- Set up an appointment with someone in the HR office to pick up your last paycheck and take part in an exit interview on your last day of work
- If you are relocating, provide HR with your new address information
Your benefits:
- Your medical and dental benefits will end on the last day of the month in which your Reed employment ends
- All other benefits (life insurance, flexible spending, etc.) end on the last day of your employment. If interested in continuing your life insurance coverage after employment, complete this form
- You will soon receive information in the mail to your home address about continuation of medical, dental and/or flexible spending account coverage through COBRA. Compare this option with your options for buying medical coverage on the health insurance marketplace
- Contact TIAA to discuss your Reed 403(b) retirement account. Access your account online or call TIAA at 1-800-842-2776
For supervisors, to prepare for employee departure
- Submit a personnel action (PA) form to HR and attach the employee's resignation letter. Stop by HR for help completing this form
- Let CIS know of your employees last day of work by completing the CIS departure form
- On their last day, return your employee's keys to facilities services
- On their last day, collect your employee's ID card, cut it in half and throw it in the trash. Please don't let them keep their ID card as a memento
- Your employee will meet with HR on their last day to collect their final paycheck and take part in an exit interview
