Disability Housing Accommodations
Students with disabilities who have specific housing needs may work with Disability Support Services (DSS) to request accommodations. As with all accommodation requests, we engage with students in an individualized and interactive process to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations.Types of housing accommodations

Students requesting disability accommodations for the first time at Reed should follow the DSS Accommodations Process.
Students who are already registered with DSS may submit housing accommodation requests through their DSS student portal account.
To request housing accommodations for the current academic year:
To allow Residence Life to implement your housing accommodations for the next academic year, they must receive notification of all approved accommodations by the March room registration deadline. We strongly urge students with known accommodation needs to begin the DSS accommodation process well in advance of the Residence Life room registration process. Students are welcome to contact Disability Support Services at any time of year to begin the housing accommodations process.
If Residence Life receives notice of an approved housing accommodation after the March room registration deadline, they will strive to meet your accommodation needs within the available housing inventory.
At times, new or changing circumstances may create the need for students to seek housing accommodations outside of the traditional timeline described above. If a student receives approval for housing accommodations for the current academic year, Residence Life will strive to meet the student’s accommodation needs within the available housing inventory. Students are welcome to contact Disability Support Services at any time of year to begin the housing accommodations request process.
Summer Housing Program Accommodations
Reed students who are enrolled for the upcoming Fall semester may apply to Residence Life's Summer Housing program. More information about can be found on the Summer Housing web page. Students who are accepted to the Summer Housing program may request disability housing accommodations through Disability Support Services. We strongly encourage students to submit their accommodation requests to DSS well in advance of May 7th, to allow sufficient time for processing the request prior to Residence Life's acceptance deadline.
For information about service animals and emotional support animals, please review Reed College's Animal Policy.
Please note that according to Reed policy, there are limitations on the kinds of animals allowed in different types of on-campus residences. Exceptions may be permitted for students with documented disabilities. Students are asked to follow the disability accommodations process, (including meeting with DSS, submitting an application and disability documentation to our office, and receiving notice of eligibility) prior to bringing an emotional support animal to campus.
