Understanding Your Pay Statement

You can expect to receive an itemized pay statement with every payment of wages or salary.  Pay statements are available in Employee Self-Service (ESS) no later than each pay date. We are providing the following information to ensure you understand the information on your itemized pay statement. Please reach out to Payroll Services or Human Resources with any questions you may have.

Pay periods

Reed College has two pay cycles – Semi-monthly and Bi-weekly

  • Semi-monthly: Semi-monthly pay periods are from the 7th to the 21st with a payday of the 15th and the 22nd to the 6th with a payday of the last date of the month. If the payday falls on a weekend or holiday, it will be paid on the previous business day.
  • Bi-weekly: Bi-weekly pay periods span 14 days, starting on a Monday and ending on the Sunday before payday. Payday is the first Friday after the end of the pay period (i.e. every other Friday). If the payday falls on a holiday, it will be paid on the previous business day.

Workweek for purposes of overtime (OT-eligible employees only):

  • 12:00 am on Monday through 11:59 pm on Sunday
