Events by the Office for Institutional Diversity supports Reed's academic mission and commitment to the highest standards of intellectual pluralism and rigorous scholarship. As part of ongoing efforts to advance the values and goals noted in Reed's Diversity Statement, our events provides faculty, staff, and students with opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations meant to inspire the further development of a fully inclusive learning community. The college believes that all members of the Reed community are partners and that pluralistic thought, inquiry, and deeply human and humane interactions support the educational agenda of Reed College and help build a community of learners that value difference as fundamental to expansive and creative critical thinking.

Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Engagement: We honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with a day of community engagement.
Black Celebration Month: Join the Reed community as we celebrate and honor the importance of Black history, the Civil Rights movement, and the contributions of African Americans on American history and culture.
Community Reading Project: The Community Reading Project hosts a major scholar or public intellectual whose work we believe will benefit the entire community. Such visits include a reading component, a public lecture, and when appropriate, a workshop led by the special guest with targeted members of the community.
Vine Deloria Lecture Series: Founded in 2007, this lecture series honors one of the preeminent intellectuals of the 20th century, Vine Deloria Jr., whose work brought attention to the importance of place and traditions within Native American communities.
