Escorts and the Night Bus

To enhance campus safety, community safety officers provide escorts or transports in our vehicles for community members and guests. These services are primarily intended for safety (e.g., after dark, for specific safety concerns, etc.), but convenience transports are available on an exception basis and as staffing permits. Transports to areas adjacent to campus may be provided as staffing and service loads allow.
Community safety is not able to provide routine transportation for students with on-going mobility issues. Students with needs related to disabilities or health conditions are encouraged to contact disability & accessibility resources or the health and counseling center.
Night Bus
As an additional safety measure, the college operates a night bus program to transport students to their home. This student-operated service strives to operate every night, but sometimes alternative transportation might be required by individuals.
The night bus program and its transportation should not be considered a primary/reliable means of transportation for students to off-campus housing. Alternative means of transport should be also part of a student’s transportation plan to off campus housing.
Hours
The night bus currently operates during the academic year at the following times:
- Sunday–Thursday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
- Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to midnight
Academic breaks may alter operating times. Drivers attempt to maintain a 30-minute schedule.
Pick-up and Shuttle Boundaries
Pick-up is at Eliot Circle. Shuttle boundaries are: Burnside Street to the north, Johnson Creek Boulevard to the south, 82nd Avenue to the east, and the Willamette River/99E to the west.
Outdoor Emergency Phones
Outdoor phones have been installed on the Reed College campus to make it easier for community members to report emergency situations and get in touch with each other.
