when a community safety officer (CSO) arrives, follow their instructions.
If you receive a bomb threat by phone
note the telephone number on the caller ID;
call community safety (extension 7533) immediately after you are disconnected, but first attempt to obtain as much information as possible (see below) and take notes if you can.
What to ask the caller:
When is the bomb going to explode?
Where is it right now?
What does it look like?
What kind of bomb is it?
What will cause it to explode?
Did you place the bomb?
Why?
Who are you?
Where are you?
Report details about the call:
Remember as much as you can about the voice. Would you say they sound male or female? Did they sound youthful or elderly? What was their demeanor (calm, angry, excited)?
Identify any background noises, such as street noises, machinery or vehicles, animal noises, music, or static or hollowness associated with cell or speaker phones.
Try to note the exact words of the threat and the tone of the message. Was it well-spoken, vulgar, taped, or read from a script?
