Getting Equipment

The Reed Computer Store is an authorized Apple Campus Store providing Apple products at education pricing to the Reed community We also have a wide variety of accessories such as headphones, keyboards, and mice.



Students can borrow up to $2,000 to purchase computer equipment through the Computer Purchase Loan Program (only Computer Store purchases are eligible).

The Reed Emergency Fund may be available for students experiencing urgent or unexpected technology needs.


The Instructional Media Center (IMC) in the Library offers short-term loans of equipment including laptops, iPads, projectors, digital cameras, portable audio recorders, speakers, and more.

The Student Technology Equipment Program (STEP) makes technology available to students in need. For a non-refundable program fee of $50, a laptop computer can be borrowed for the duration of an academic year. For more personal technology accessories such as external web cameras, keyboards, mice, and headsets, your best bet is to contact the Computer Store.

Faculty & Staff

Faculty and staff who need computing equipment to support their college work may request it through the Computer Equipment Replacement process.

Equipment or accessories costing less than $500 should be purchased through your departmental supplies budget.
