Fountain, water channels, sheet and cascade

The fountain originates at the upper northern end of the wall. The water runs down a channel along the top of the wall, overrunning the inside edge to create a thin sheet of water covering the wall's entire inner face. At its base, a descending trough carries the overrunning water to the fountain below. The rest of the water continues along the top of the wall, cascading over the lowest section of the wall, surfaced with cleft-cut travertine to serve as a background for the 16 uniformly spaced jets. In spite of the posted notice, the basin is shallow and invites walking.
