On-campus Housing Accomodations
While the Reed College residence halls vary greatly in age, there are many options for accessible living on campus. We have several newer building which were created with accessibility in mind including Naito, Sullivan, Bragdon, the Spanish House, Bidwell, Sitka, Sequoia & Aspen. Many of our older buildings, including Old Dorm Block, Anna Mann, MacNaughton, Foster, and Scholz, have been renovated to include accessible options as well. If you have special housing needs, please note them on the housing preference card. If you have questions about accessible housing please contact Residence Life and/or Disability Support Services. For additional information regarding accommodations for a disability please visit Disability Support Services.
Gender Neutral Housing
At Reed College, gender neutral housing (GNH) is an additional option, one not limited by the traditional gender distinction. GNH seeks to provide housing options welcoming to all gender identities and expressions. This housing option allows for same gender, opposite gender or other gender identities to live together irrespective of biological sex.
All Reed College Apartments and Birchwood Apartments are gender neutral as well as specified doubles and triples located in Old Dorm Block, Cross Canyon, Bidwell, Sitka, Aspen & Sequoia. These designated gender neutral rooms and apartments are made available in the Housing Lottery and can be selected by a student in the exact same manner as any other room - a gender neutral housing designation simply means that the room may be a single-gender group or mixed-gender group depending on the outcome of the Housing Lottery process.
Gender neutral housing is not available for first-year students. First-year students who want a gender-neutral space should contact Residence Life, and an appropriate housing assignment will be made.
