By Ethyl Elwood | February 19, 2019

More than a dozen Reed students who hail from China had lunch with trustee Gary Rieschel ’79 last week to learn about his 25+ years of operating and investing experience as a senior executive, entrepreneur, investor, and global business strategist in Asia. Gary is the founding managing partner of Qiming, a leading China venture capital firm with offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. He lived in Japan for five years in the late 1980s and lived in Shanghai from 2005 through 2016. He graduated with a degree in biology from Reed and went on to receive his MBA from Harvard Business School. International students comprise approximately 10% of Reed’s student body, and hail from more than 30 countries around the world. The lunch was paid for by Gary and sponsored by the Center for Life Beyond Reed.
