Reed in the Media

Reed Centennial featured in local media

During Reed's centennial year, a few local news outlets featured stories about the college's history. The Oregonian editorial board wrote about Reed's "uncompromised quest and unvarnished wit," in "Reed College at 100." Portland Monthly featured an article, "Old School: Happy 100th birthday to Reed—America's last great conservative college." In October, as part of its Oregon Experience series, Oregon Public Broadcasting TV aired "Reed," an hour-long documentary that focused largely on the college's response to money woes, curricular battles, and public perception while aspiring to maintain its founding principles. The documentary can be viewed online at OPB's website, where they have also posted additional footage of Gary Snyder '51.
