Parent & Family Orientation
Parent & Family Orientation is the college's way of helping parents and family members help their student transition from high school to college. This year, Reed has transitioned our Parent & Family Orientation programs online to adhere to state public health protocols and protect the wellbeing of the Reed community during the pandemic. The online programming will be a combination of self-directed content and live sessions, in which parents and family members will virtually meet academic deans and college staff and become acquainted with their roles as they relate to the life and education of Reed students. It will also consist of opportunities to learn about
- student services, including housing, financial aid, student health, community safety, and counseling;
- how Reed faculty structure their classes to foster the richest education for students through a teaching-first and faculty-scholar model; and
- ways Reed is adapting in response to COVID-19
Check out our online New Parent & Family Orientation. Please review all online materials prior to the live virtual orientation sessions.
Live programming will take place starting August 24. Zoom links for each session will be available later in August, and closed captioning will be provided. If you have questions about accessibility or want to request accommodations, please contact us with at least one week of advance notice. All sessions will be recorded and made available after Orientation.
Dropping Your Student Off On-Campus
While we know how important drop-off day can be, public health protocols preclude us from allowing anyone except students into the residence halls. We deeply regret these circumstances but hope parents and family members understand it is to support the health and wellbeing of the community.
