Since 1982, EHS and Facilities has been doing annual water testing across campus. As per EPA regulation, we test for lead and copper, which can cause health issues. We also test for iron which can affect taste and color, but is not a health concern. This year, we have added bacterial colony counts to our analysis which can be used as an indicator for poor water quality and highlight areas that need attention. From this year's results, we identified 3 water fixtures that need to be replaced. All of these fixtures are old drinking fountains which have been turned off since the beginning of the pandemic. We will be replacing these fixtures and they will be turned off until full replacement is done. However, Facilities has just kicked off a water management program with a vendor specializing in potable water programs. This is still in early stages and updates will be posted as we make progress on this program.
