COVID-19 Prevention & Response Plan

Communications

May 7, 2020

Dear students, faculty, and staff,

I write to you with our weekly update from the COVID-19 Risk Assessment Group (CRAG). We have highlighted essential points in yellow.

New Cases at Reed

Since our last update, we have identified no new confirmed COVID-19 cases at Reed. We continue to report all associated COVID-19 cases online, found in the "Total Cases" section of the dashboard.

Surveillance testing next week

Next week, surveillance testing will take place from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the student union on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, May 10, 11, 13, and 14. The sign up sheet for these dates will be sent via email today.

As a reminder, all students, faculty, and staff who plan to participate in the in-person commencement ceremony on May 17 are expected to test twice the week of May 3, as well as twice the week of May 10. If you plan to participate in the commencement ceremony, please sign up for two (2) COVID-19 tests using the link above. Tests should be scheduled no fewer than 48 hours apart (one on Monday/Tuesday and one on Thursday/Friday). If you have questions about this testing process or how it applies to you, please send an email to coronavirusquestions@reed.edu.

In order to best protect the Reed community, it is imperative that all community members participate in surveillance testing as appropriate, regardless of vaccination status. For more information about the Reed COVID-19 surveillance testing program, please visit our website here.

Preparing for summer and fall

Yesterday, we sent a message to the Reed community with important updates on our operations and plans for summer and fall. You can find and read this message on our COVID News and Announcements page here.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Important: Reed community members should not wait for a Reed-sponsored vaccine clinic due to the uncertainty of when Reed will receive the vaccine.

Eligible community members should visit the Oregon COVID-19 Vaccination webpage and sign up with the Get Vaccinated Oregon portal, or contact their healthcare provider. Same or next day appointments are currently available at mass vaccination sites in the Portland area, including PDX Airport and the Oregon Convention Center.

For more information about COVID-19 vaccines and Reed's vaccination planning, please review the Reed Vaccine FAQ.

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to the COVID-19 Risk Assessment Group at coronavirusquestions@reed.edu.

Sincerely,

Madison Riethman, MPH, CPH
