Dear Reed community,
We write to share the news that a student living on campus has tested positive for COVID-19. The student is receiving care and is in isolation. It is important that the college maintain the privacy and anonymity of the individual who has been diagnosed with COVID and we appreciate your support.
We know this news is concerning for everyone, and we express our support for the student and our entire community.
In line with protocols, the college is working with the Oregon Health Authority and Multnomah County to identify and quarantine any individuals who may have been in close contact with the person in the last 14 days. People who may have been in close contact are being contacted by Reed’s Health & Counseling Center and will be given clear instructions for self-quarantine. There may be additional contacts by county or state public health department representatives. The college is also following public health guidance regarding additional cleaning and sanitation steps.
We ask that everyone in the campus community be supportive of one another and stay informed about guidance on exposure, prevention measures, and more. There are educational resources regarding COVID-19 on the Reed COVID-19 website. We also recommend you read the CDC website closely on how to protect yourself and others.
Please email coronavirusquestions@reed.edu should you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Carrie Baldwin-Sayre
Associate Dean of Students for Health & Wellbeing
