Hello, staff and faculty. I hope this message finds you well.
Please follow these steps if you become ill with COVID-like symptoms (primarily but not exclusively cough, fever, shortness of breath) and believe you may have the virus. First, stay home and call your supervisor to notify them you won’t be in to work:
- You or your supervisor must notify HR that you have COVID-like symptoms. Even if you are already working from home, you must still notify your supervisor or HR. Faculty should notify the dean of faculty or HR.
- Contact your healthcare provider for advice.
- HR will contact you to provide support.
- You may return to work at the advice of your healthcare provider or 72 hours after your symptoms are gone.
- That you have symptoms will be confidential to your supervisor and HR. Your name will not be shared.
Please follow these steps if you have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus:
- Stay home and call your supervisor to notify them you won’t be in to work.
- You or your supervisor must notify HR that you may have been exposed. Even if you are already working from home, you must still notify your supervisor or HR. Faculty should notify the dean of faculty or HR.
- Contact your healthcare provider for advice.
- HR will contact you to provide support.
- It is likely that your healthcare provider will advise you to quarantine at home for 14 days.
Note that staff who are ill but don’t believe they have contracted COVID will use regular sick time if they become ill.
Thank you, and please let me know if you have questions.
