We aren’t sure; we hope it will be soon!
We know that many of you are anxious to use your common spaces again. Since we are in the midst of student arrivals and testing, it is imperative that we take time to assess the data (test results, daily health check, campus behavioral survey, and the Oregon Health Authority dashboard) before making a decision to reopen these spaces. This decision will be made in conjunction with our medical providers and the COVID-19 Risk Assessment Group.
Students may only access kitchen spaces to fill water bottles and use the refrigerator or microwave. The only exception to using the kitchen for cooking is for the limited number of students who have an accommodation on record with Residence Life for meal plan exemption.
It is vital that Reed community members follow these guidelines. We know this college experience is more unique than anticipated and recognize the necessity to be creative in our programmatic efforts to build community. We encourage you to connect [make sure to use your Reed log-in] with your peers, HAs, and Area Coordinators for questions and support.
We will send an update on the status of common rooms by the beginning of next week.
Sincerely,
Residence Life
