Dear Staff and Faculty,

New students are beginning to arrive on campus and the beginning of the fall semester is quickly approaching. I have been hearing from many people that they would find it helpful to come together for a listening session, and I agree. In order to interact in a meaningful way, and taking into consideration our limitations for gathering in person, I want to offer a format that will allow us to come together to share information and engage in conversation.

I have asked Liz Colie Gadberry to organize times next week when we can meet in one-hour Zoom sessions in groups of thirty people. There will be four sessions available for faculty and eleven sessions for staff. I have asked Hugh Porter, Vice President for College Relations and Planning, to join me for each session. Kathy Oleson, Dean of the Faculty, will attend all of the faculty sessions. Kathy and the other Vice Presidents and Deans will attend as many of the other sessions as their schedules allow.

Please refer to Liz’s message below with details about how to sign up for one of the sessions. There will be an opportunity for you to submit questions in advance—and to the extent possible—ask questions during the meeting. I ask that you please be sure to read through Reed’s COVID-19 webpages so that you are fully briefed on the college’s plans and preparations for the fall.

Staff may sign-up for one of the sessions, and submit questions in advance of the session, on this STAFF form.

Faculty may sign-up for a session, and submit questions in advance of the session, on this FACULTY form.

Each session will be limited to the first thirty people to sign up for it.

As Audrey mentioned, you will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance. We ask that you provide your questions by noon on Monday, August 17, as the sessions begin on Tuesday morning.
