Planned Outages

Planned power outage on Saturday, April 20th, at 8am

Saturday, April 20th, at approximately 8:00am, Portland General Electric will be performing a planned electrical outage that will affect part of the Reed campus. The outage is scheduled to last 6-8 hours, with power being restored by 4pm. The following areas will lose power at approximately 8:00am:

  • 28 West (will remain on generator power)

  • Health & Counseling Center

  • Child Care Center

  • The Grove: Bidwell, Aspen, Sequoia & Sitka Houses

What will be affected?

  • There will be no electrical power in the above spaces.

  • Wireless (WiFI) and wired network access in these spaces will be unavailable.

  • Aspen and Bidwell printers will be offline.

How can I prepare?

Employees should shut down and unplug all desktop computers and other sensitive electrical equipment in their workspaces before leaving their offices Friday afternoon.

Students in affected dorms should power down computers before going to bed Friday night.

During the outage, WiFi, printing, and other technology resources will remain available elsewhere on campus. Additional WiFi access will be placed in the PARC (Performing Arts Building), the Library, and the ETC during the outage.
