MS Program in Cultural and Environmental Resource Management at CWU

Greetings!

The Cultural and Environmental Resource Management Graduate Program (CERM) invites students to apply to our interdisciplinary MS program to work with faculty in the Department of Anthropology and Museum Studies at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. The two-year program integrates faculty and course work from Anthropology, Economics and Geography to develop research on issues related to cultural and natural resource management, environmental change, and policy.

The initial deadline for Fall 2021 applications and funding is February 1st, 2021; however, applications are reviewed after this date as well and into the summer months. Graduate assistantship funding is available on a competitive basis. Students applying from the 16 states within the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) are eligible for in-state tuition. GRE scores are not required for our program. For more information, please the CWU Graduate Studies page.

Anthropology faculty conduct ongoing research in archaeology, ethnographic studies, environmental anthropology, NAGPRA, Museum Studies, and many more areas of cultural resource management (please see attached flier). Faculty work closely with and mentor students to complete original thesis research with a strong emphasis on fieldwork and/or collaboration with cultural and natural resource agencies or Native American communities.

Research specializations and faculty can be found at: https://www.cwu.edu/anthropology/faculty
