Overnight Stay FAQ

During our fall and spring semesters, high school seniors can register for overnight visits on select dates. Add an overnight visit to your registration when you sign up for a campus visit. See below for frequently asked questions.

Who can sign up for an overnight visit?

When you sign up for an information session and tour, you can register for an overnight campus visit. If you do not see the option to add an overnight when you register, you may be close to the registration deadline. Registration for overnight visits closes eight days ahead of time.

When do overnights begin and end?

Check-in for your overnight begins at 4:30 p.m. on the evening you select for your registration. There is no official check-out time. Typically, hosts and their guests go to breakfast around 8:30 a.m., and guests depart shortly afterward. Earlier or later departure times can be discussed with your host.

Are meals included in my overnight visit?

Yes! Students participating in an overnight visit get two meal tickets (dinner and breakfast) to use at Commons, our dining hall.

What should I bring for my overnight visit?

In addition to pajamas, clothing for the next day, and any toiletries you need, we recommend that you bring bedding supplies. Bed accommodations vary by host, so it's best to bring a pillow and sleeping bag or comforter. Your host will reach out prior to your visit, so you can also ask them what to pack. The Office of Admission can provide extra sleeping bags and bedding if needed.

What will I do during my overnight visit?

How you spend your time during your overnight is up to you and your host! There are always fun events happening on campus, and many of them are open to visitors. Your host will have lots of great ideas for ways to spend the evening.

What should I do if I arrive late to my overnight check-in?

You will receive your host's contact information close to the night of your stay, and you should text them your expected arrival time. If you are arriving late, we recommend that you coordinate with your host to meet at 28 West (5436 SE 28th Ave, Portland, OR 97202) rather than the Office of Admission. 28 West is our community safety building, and it's open 24 hours.
