Interim Vice President and Dean of Admission & Financial Aid

For the 2026-2027 Academic Year, Gil J. Villanueva will serve as the Interim Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. For more than three decades, Gil has served selective colleges and universities across the nation. Prior to his upcoming appointment at Reed, he served as Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Rhodes College, Associate Vice President and Dean of Admission at the University of Richmond, and Dean of Admission at Brandeis University. He also worked at Bucknell University and Harvey Mudd College. Gil earned his B.A. in psychology at Pitzer College and his M.Ed. degree in Higher Education at Bucknell University. 

Recognized for his service on national organizations and committees, Gil is a representative of American Higher Education for the U.S. Department State Office of Overseas Schools. He served The Common Application as board chair and the College Board’s Guidance and Admission Assembly Council, Task Force on Admissions in the 21st Century, SAT Suite Committee, and board chair of the Southern Region. Gil was a faculty advisor for the Leadership in Enrollment Management Certificate program at the University of Southern California’s Center for Enrollment Research, Policy, and Practice. For the National Association of Secondary School Principals, he served on the Higher Education Advisory Committee and the National Honor Society Scholarship Selection Committee. He recently concluded his service as a steering committee member for the Small College Consortium. 

Gil and his wife Carolyn provide parenting services to two college graduates, a spoiled Pug, and an entitled Bulldog.
