MAGNOLIA CHAMBER ENSEMBLE WILL PLAY MARCH 26
The Magnolia Chamber Ensemble will perform on Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m. in the Reed College chapel. The ensemble--Adam LaMotte and Greg Ewer, violins, Leslie Hirsch, viola, and Lori Presthus, cello--will present string quartets and trios of Schubert, Haydn, and Mendelssohn on original instruments of the baroque and classical periods in a setting that enhances the beauty and clarity of chamber music. The concert, sponsored by the Reed music department, is open to the public. Tickets are $15 general admission and $7 students, and are available at the door or by calling Fastixx at 224-8499. Adam LaMotte has been a part of the Portland music scene for over two years, performing with both the Oregon Symphony and the Oregon Ballet Theater. Greg Ewer, a Texas native, has many years of experience in the professional fields of both modern and historic performance. Lori Presthus, a member of the Reed music instruction staff, has performed with the Portland Baroque Orchestra for over six years, appearing on numerous recordings and broadcasts. Leslie Hirsch has performed for over 20 years in such renowned ensembles as the Atlanta Symphony and the Santa Barbara Symphony and has been with the Portland Baroque Orchestra for over 10 years.
