Supporting Undergraduate Research

The Supporting Undergraduate Research initiative has evolved from Reed's Evidence to Scholarship (E2S) project. Funded by the Mellon and Keck Foundations, E2S fostered collaboration between faculty, computing, and the library to cultivate student research competencies in sophomore and junior level courses. The project's goal was to build a bridge from first-year introductory courses to the competencies students need to conduct senior-level thesis research in their disciplines. Our activities included collaborating with faculty to design course assignments and research projects, developing a data services team, optimizing digital delivery of texts and media, and a capstone conference in March 2018.

The current Supporting Undergraduate Research initiative promotes collaboration between staff and faculty to guide undergraduate research across the curriculum at Reed. Our goal is to share successful models of support both across departments and between institutions, through conferences focused on collaborative approaches to undergraduate research.
