Student Space Access Protocols - Overview

Updated August 26, 2021

In the summer of 2021, the Vice President for Student Life initiated the formation of the Student Space Task Force (SSTF), comprised of representatives from the Student Senate, Office for Institutional Diversity, current space signators, and the Student Life Division. Over the course of the 2021 - 2022 academic year the goals of the SSTF will be to clarify how the Reed Community equitably determines how to allocate student spaces to clubs and organizations as well as how to adjust with the evolving needs of the student body. There will be opportunities for broad student input (Senate, club and organization signators, and the student body) to provide their direct feedback by way of a planned survey and public forums.  Planning begins in the Summer of 2021, and the Student Space Task Force (SSTF) will endorse any new allocations of space and its use by the Summer of 2022.

Overall Process

  • Assessment of current usage
  • Improve oversight and collaboration with current space signators
  • Senate collaboration and assessment of other needs
  • Space allocation by needs
  • Process for space switching
