New Students

Welcome New Students!

Orientation is an exciting time for you to explore Reed's academic program, resources, and co-curricular opportunities, as well as to meet your peers and get to know campus.

The Orientation team, part of the college's Student Life Division, is here to support your successful transition to Reed. Please contact us with any questions.

Please browse the links on the left to start learning about ways to prepare for your arrival.

Reed 101: Online Orientation (Complete before August 24)

In early May, you will receive an email with the link to the first online Orientation module, which includes important information about academic requirements, registration, and campus policies and safety. The second online orientation module includes information about various student support services like the Health & Counseling Center (HCC), Disability and Accessibility Resources (DAR), and more. The third online orientation module includes information about campus life, working at Reed, and a preview of how our Orientation and Wayfinding Leaders (OWLs) will support your transition to Reed.

Completion of the online Orientation before August 24 is required for all new students.

Campus Culture & Prevention Trainings (Complete before August 24)

In mid-July, you will receive an email with links to three Campus Culture & Prevention Trainings. These modules were designed to increase one’s ability to identify and challenge harmful and discriminatory behaviors. They are intended to build critical self-awareness skills, drive systemic cultural analysis, and increase the capacity of our community to intervene in potentially harmful scenarios. These skills are critical to establishing a solid foundation of trust, mutual respect, and care that our academic community can thrive in.

Completion of the online modules before August 24 is required for all new students. For more information on the modules, check out this website

In-Person Pre-Orientation

Pre-Orientation for international students and the Peer Mentor Program begins August 21 through August 24.

In-Person General Orientation

During general Orientation on campus (August 24 - 30), you will meet faculty, fellow students, and staff through a series of presentations, information sessions, and programs.

Check here for the Orientation schedule at a glance, and the full schedule with times and locations will be available in early August.
