Designation of Digital Materials Recipient

A Reed College employee may designate a recipient who, in the event of the employee’s death, shall be given access to any personally-owned digital materials stored or managed by the College.

  • A digital materials recipient must contact the College within 36 months of the employee’s death in order to request access to personally-owned digital materials.  Requests should be made to the Chief Information Officer (email:  tel: 503-777-7254)
  • An employee may enter, update, or delete the designated recipient at any time via IRIS Information Update.
  • An employee may decline to designate a digital materials recipient, in which case access shall be determined by the executor of the employee’s estate.
  • Designating such a recipient by means of the College’s online IRIS form “overrides a contrary direction by the user in a will, trust, power of attorney or other record.”
