2026 Sense of Community Survey

Reed College is partnering with the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS) to conduct a Sense of Community Survey. The HEDS Sense of Community Survey asks everyone about the extent to which they feel a sense of community at Reed College, and what experiences promote or diminish their sense of community.

The survey will take place for three weeks from Monday, January 26, 2026 through Friday, February 13, 2026.

Incentives

Survey participants will be entered into multiple rafles throughout the survey period for a chance to win daily, weekly and grand prizes. All prizes are designed to be shared with fellow members of the Reed College community.

The winners will receieve one of each paired item, and will select a Reed College community member (student, staff, or faculty) to received the second. While encouraged, the selected person to receive the second pair does not need to have completed the survey to receive the prize. The Office for Institutional Diversity will reach out to the selected community member and coordinate the gift exchange accordingly.

Daily Drawings

Each day, one respondent from surveys completed that day will be selected to win two* limited-edition Institutional Diversity bags.

Weekly Drawings

Each week, three respondents from all surveys completed that week will be selected to win:

Two* 24-oz Institutional Diversity Owala bottles
Two* $50 Reed College Bookstore gift cards
Two* pairs of tickets to a local Portland experience rotating weekly:
- Week 1: Two* general admissions for two to Hopscotch.
- Week 2: Two* general admissions for two to the Portland Art Museum.
- Week 3: Two* $50 gift cards to Studio One Theaters.

Grand Prize Drawings

At the end of the survey period, one participant will be selected to win a private three-course dinner at the Parker House for themselves and up to five** additional Reed community member, featuring a special menu curated by Bon Appétit.

Additionally:

One student will win a 40" Smart TV (only one winner)
One staff member will win two* registrations for weekly fitness classes at the Sports Center
One faculty member will win two* registrations for weekly fitness classes at the Sports Center

**Guests to the Parker House private dinner must be a Reed College community member (student, staff, or faculty).
