This prompt encourages you to practice the skills of close reading. Lines 13–21 of the prologue command the reader to inspect Uruk. Lines 29–48 characterize Gilgamesh. Using specific references to the text of these passages, make a case for one way to understand the relationship of this command to the character of Gilgamesh. Explain how your interpretation of this relationship helps the prologue introduce the epic as a whole.
