Please write on one of the following questions.

1. Compare the relation between sex and violence in Agamemnon (ll.1385-1406) with an image of Achilles killing Penthesilea (by either Exekias or the Penthesilea Painter), or with Sutton Fig. 1.3

2. What contribution does the private citizen make to the health of the city? Discuss with reference to Pericles's Funeral Oration and with either The Eumenides or the Parthenon Frieze.

3. Compare the uses of debate (either political, rhetorical, or moral) in The Eumenides with that in the Melian Dialogues.

4. To what extent is the view of human nature articulated in Thucydides's account of the civil war in Corcyra borne out by the rest of his History of the Peloponnesian War?
