Danielle Allen

Danielle Allen is professor of political philosophy, public policy, and ethics at Harvard University, director of the Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation and the Democratic Knowledge Project, and author of several books, including Our Declaration: A Reading of the Declaration of Independence in Defense of Equality. Allen’s public lecture was “Renovating Democracy for the 21st Century.” Allen additionally met with students, staff, and faculty for smaller discussions.

Politics and Post-Kantian Thought: Judgment, Knowledge, and the State

The political science department honored the career of Peter Steinberger with a weekend-long symposium which brought presenters from around the country, including Reed alumni and other prominent scholars in the field.

Cass Sunstein

Cass Sunstein is a professor and the founder and director of the Program on Behavioral Economics and Public Policy at Harvard Law School. He presented a public lecture on “Free Speech on Campus” and participated in smaller gatherings with students and faculty.
